here's the scoop....
My project 46' half ton has no title.
--applying for a builder title and inspections (several) will be a huge pain in the [censored]

I have a chance to buy another truck... 46 1.5 ton with a clean title...

My thought was to use that title for my 1/2 ton project? maybe apply for a builder title and re tag it as a 1/2 ton later....

Ideas, thoughts?

After searching for a year I found the next project!
46' 1/2 ton in pieces! took 2 trips to get it home, but most of the hard work was already done!!!

Not a good idea, as it is illegal to falsify vehicle ID.

I am sure you will get lot's of "Thought" on this subject. It has a real easy answer "IT'S ILEGAL" to take a title from one truck to another, although it is done all to often.

but if I use the cab and doors off the titled truck and maybe a nut and bolt or 2.... I'm happily in that grey area!

The motor is getting swapped as well.... so any reference would be replaced anyway...

I also have an option to file for a VIN number that state patrol will attach to the frame... it's part of the builder title junk.

As stated above, it's illegal. Stovebolt.com wants nothing to do with illegal activity or advice to commit any.
