I have a 1955 235 with the original 4 speed transmission in my 48 Chevy 1/2 ton. Is it possible to bolt a turbo 350 up to the 235? Or should I put in a sbc?

Buffalo Enterpises makes an adapter palte to bolt a leter automatic to the 235. While the TH350 will work fine, you might consider the TH700R4, which has a better first gear ratio as well as an overdrive gear. You will need to go to an open driveshaft, the easy way would be to swap the 3rd member/torque tube of your existing rearend out for a 3rd memebr from a '55-'62 1/2 ton truck and weld up the pivots. That will allow you to keep the proper width rear and yur 6 lug wheels.

I agree with LONGBOX55, don't use a turbo 350. At 60 mph, you will be turning high RPM's. A TH700R4 will give you an overdrive gear and you should be able to run 70 mph at about 2400 RPM's with a rear end gear ratio of 3.55. For a 235, that is very comfortable. With the Buffalo Enterprises adapter, it makes a nice finished product.

You won't get better answers by having 2 threads about this.

I would think you need to call Buffalo Enterprises and ask them.

I used the Buffalo adapter to put a 2004r in my '54 GMC.
