Hi all, I need some expert advice form some knowledgeable "Bolters". I have a 46 3/4 ton Chevy Pickup with the original 4 speed. I have kept it as original as possible as I could, now trying to use it as a Daily Driver, my top speed is 40 mph. I am putting in an S-10 Rearend (3.73:1) and a T5 Transmission. I can't remember where I read it, but I remember something about some issues when installing a T5. I would like to keep it 6 volt with a foot starter, if possible. What issues am I facing and how do I solve them. John

Go up to the top of the page and click on Tech Tips. Scroll down the Tech Tips page until you get to transmissions. There are four articles on installing a T5.

I am not an expert in this but those articles don't cover everything that you may run in to. If you can figure out the search procedures you may learn more from previous discussions. In any case you can always get help here as by asking questions.

what do you need to know, mine turned out great, theres a few modifications and fabrications you have to make but they arent hard to do, you only need a work bench with a vise and cutting tools and a welder, first off you need to get the right transmission, you need to get an early 80's t-5 from a chevy s-10,(because it has a mechanical speedometer) and a s-10 rear, and as far as the clutch set up, I sent you info before on how to get all the parts and where to get them, then remove the torque tube drive (trans, rear)keep the original springs in the truck (for measurement purposes
