Filled and bled the brakes then took a 200mi back road, road trip to pick up a Wankel rotary and transmission for a buddy. IT WAS AWESOME! No issues whatsoever and the 216 w/ 3OTT, 4.11 and 16x7.50 tires did just fine at 55-60mph on some of the larger rural roads.

Check the archives here. There are a lot of articles on that subject. Take your questions on this over to the interior forum for more exact information. I spent almost a year earching for this. I didn't want bucket seats because I figured i might need to transport a third person. I bought Suburband 2nd row seats but they were about 2" too wide. I finally gave up and bought these seats

Last weekend I repainted the old dash to look new again. I smoothed over the hole where the radio went. It looks better. Refaced my old gauges (before) and installed them.

Put new windshield in yesterday and was very disappointed to see that the rubber sat way too low in the upper outboard corners of the windshied opening and barely covered the metal lip of the cab. Then after work today while trying to figure out what the heck I was going to do about the windshield, I noticed that the new rubbers I went to all the work to put on the wing windows in June are completely rotten. They almost look as bad as the old ones I removed. Thats the last time I buy rubber products from LMC. Now I'm worried about my freshly painted dash frown

Your dash looks good. One word on rubber, Steele Rubber. There are few parts on the AD that one probably should seek professional help. One of those areas is the windshield and rear window/windows.

Thanks BIG CHEVY. I hate to think I'm going to have to remove my new widshield AND the vent windows. I'm trying to get this thing buttoned up before it gets too cold and I'm doing everything in my driveway, no garage.

The vent windows are not hard to rebuild, just use a quality rubber, in fact there is a serise of pictures of the steps to take rebuilding them. If you need it let me know.

So much of what we do can be done in several different steps. Do I install gauges before I run my wiring or after. I thought about putting my turn led's somewhere in the gauges but by the time I was ready for that I had already installed everything (radio, air cond. and vents) under the dash. So I drilled the dash and installed them there.
Yours looks really good.

BIG CHEVY, I rebuilt my vent windows back in June-before, I took great pride in doing the job right-after. I thought the rubber parts from LMC installed well and looked good. Oh well, lesson learned.

DADS50, that's brilliant! I was trying to figure out a good way to incorporate turn indicators into my speedo but gave up and installed it without. Now I will have to pull it back out again. Hope you don't mind me copying you.

I got the idea from a member here who installed them in his speaker grill.I decided to put them in a gauge cluster because for me its more noticeable.
The speedometer is also a good spot and will be easier to work.
here is the test in the truck.

The pilot light in the switch wasn't cutting it. Most the time I couldn't see the light flash because it was blocked by the wheel. The flasher is not loud enough.
I became the old man driving with the blinkers on.

Good luck

I finally figured out how to attach my e-brake cables. Before coating the frame I had welded tabs, and used large e-clips to hold the cable sheaths. I used 75 camaro cable connectors, and the bolts are spring pack bolts. I opened up 1 end so the bolt would slide in, and they are threaded most of the way. About a $10 setup. Pics in my photobucket.

I replaced the rear sill, still have some work to do, but it's on there. BTW, I don't recommend doing this with the bed on the truck. Live and learn...

Still, it was nice to get something accomplished and learn something new in the process!

Wanted to get the rear speakers off the floor, so I cut the box down so that it would fit in the cab corners.

I swapped the internals from my driver's door - which was badly dented - to another donor door, and mounted it on the truck.

Still needs alignment, but I'm pleased to have done it. smile

Finally getting back to work on the '59 after foot surgery laid me up for a couple weeks. I got the a/c unit installed and all plumbed up. I'll finish the vents once I finish re-wiring the cab.

I recommend that you have your tires trued also. That made a tremendous improvement for the ride of my truck.

Jim,

We have a great Tech Tip on "truing" tires. Dave did a good job with this write-up.

After letting my bucket seats just set in the panel for the past few days....you know, moving them, checking how they look, ect, I finally drilled some holes yesterday and bolting them down. I have two more holes to drill today and they're done...finally.

Well I am making more progress on my bed. I got the wheel wells out of the bed and have started the exhausting process of taking all the bolts off. I am going to have to have someone weld repair piece because there was soooooooo much rust in the bed from where the diamond plate was trapping water. More to come later. Haven't taken pics of the wheel wells being out but will try to later today.

I checked the link on the mfg. and left a message request for a list of shops in the Dallas area. It seemed like quite a job to true those tires. I wonder what the cost would be.

Jim, I had the same process as described in the tech tip.

I also had a bent rim. I found a company that straightened the steel wheel for $50. Then I went back to the alignment shop for truing and balancing.

I paid $25 per tire.

There happens to be a shop just 3 miles from my house.
