Can 2" or 3" lowering blocks be used on a stock 50 rearend suspension with the torque tube still in use? My main concern is the geometry with the old style U-joints, etc.....

Another rodder told me he had trouble with a open drive line hitting his center cross member while using the 3" blocks; however, he has an open drive line so the U-jopint issue was less of a problem.

There will be no ujoint issue with a torque tube rearend because there is only one, and you will be decreasing the angle. As long as it doesn't hit anything you will be fine. You may want to check that the splines on the front end of the torque tube are clean enough, though, or it may not retract enough when you hit a bump and you may bend something.

Thanks for the reply. The whole drivetrain is rebuilt but I haven't had the whole truck together to drive yet. Does the bell at the trans abd driveline hook up have to be loosened before installing the lowering blocks> I would guess it does.

No, it shouldn't need to be, it should pivot freely.
