I rebuilt a 216 Chevy motor & installed new pistons/rings & solid lifters. I think the old pistons were 30 thousands oversize; the new ones were 40 thd's over. Are the old pistons & lifters worth selling or are they only good for the srap metal shop? I have the same question for the old low-pressure oil pump. Thanks.

Somebody can use it! They don't make them anymore, but being a 216 somebody that wants to put it in a truck that had a 216 in it would want it. Don't scrap it out!

Unless the lifters are badly damaged or rust-pitted, the bottoms of them can be reground and reused. There's supposed to be a slight radius, not a flat bottom or a cup shape. Pistons- - - -also reusable if they're not cracked or the ring grooves aren't worn. There are lots of used parts for sale on Ebay- - -it might be worth a try, or list them here at the "swap meet" forum.

He's just talking about the piston rings and lifters. Your post seems like it's referring to the entire engine.
