I have finished welding in the inner cowl panel, and would like to protect the floor boards and toeboards. I am leaning towards POR-15 for the job, and was wondering if anyone knew where to get the best price. Or if someone has a better product for the job, I would like to hear it.

Do a search in here and you'll find many posts about Por 15 and it's intended media application.
Rust.

New metal or bare metal is safer under a good Epoxy Primer, not urethane, not poly, Epoxy.

I get my POR15 from TCP Global, usually from eBay. I get it quick, a good price, and they sell enough that I know it will be fresh. Like CASO said, use it when appropriate. It works best on rusty parts that have the scale sanded off.

Personally, I prefer Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator paint. Easy to apply, or thin to spray.
Easy to topcoat (no tie coat needed) and it's not UV sensitive either.

so far KNOCK ON WOOD the Eastwood rust encapsulator is treating me well also...no problems on my winshield frame where my biggest concern was....and this summer the Ol 52 was out an abought ALLOT in wet arse weather!
I have used it a another project and it is also performing well.
So I would have no hesitation in using it again.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have decided to go with Eastwoods rust encapsulator. And if anybody is interested Eastwood's has a sale on the rust encapsulator and seam sealer (1 quart and 30 oz of seam sealer)for $40.

...good buy Jimmie. The last POR15 I purchased here at Finish Masters was $53 with tax per quart...but then a quart will go a loong way.

...Tim, good to see your still kicking!!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

I hate to keep beating a subject, but has anyone used the brushable seam sealer by Eastwood? I don't mind spending the money on the product, but $75 to $400 is a bit extravagant for an applicator that I will use maybe 6 or 7 times. From what I have read 2K sealers are preferable to 1k or urathane sealers. Any ideas or comments or workarounds for expensive specialty applicators?

As for using Por 15, you can brush it over rust and the rust won't keep rusting under this stuff?
Anything else that needs to be done? I want to stop and pervent rusting of my windshield frame.
John
