HI,
does anyone know of a website that has a wiring diagram of the headlight switch in a 1950 chevy 3600. I'm replacing all the wiring and this is the only piece i have left to do but it is got me rather confused (maybe i just need a break to relax and collect my thoughts). Anyway, im not sure what goes where. the most puzzleing to me is the the brake light wire, not the tail light wire that according to my harness instructions connects to the switch in some way. why would brake lights be different when the headlights are on? or if you guys could describe to me what goes where that would be nice, but that is difficult and time consuming to type out. well thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

These are wiring diagrams and subdiagrams for my 55 1st Series (12 volt converted). I don't know if you have turn signals so this may confuse the issue more than help you out. For what it's worth here thay are (in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format):

Jon, I checked my shop manual for '48 to '51 and if you look at the posted diagram from Tim, it is almost identical. Where his shows to headlights, mine shows to dimmer switch which is likely the same thing. Brake light (or stop light) is where his shows it to be. At the rear of the switch on the bottom, mine shows to ammeter. Tail lights and park lights are where Tim's diagram shows. This also coincides with my wiring diagram for the harness for my '53 3600. I checked my light switch and it is also marked as to where things go although mine may be aftermarket. Good luck and hope this helps. grin

Fella's thanks for links to wire diagrams and pix sent. I have my switch hooked up right now, 'cept the gauge lighting. They do work off a tail terminal, yet won't work off the rheostat terminal to dim which is connected to the same tail terminal with a metal link on switch. What gives with that? Should I be lubing or cleaning the rheostat? Still trying to figure out some of wiring out of this truck, next is getting the tail/turn lights to work. What a mess, new and old wires, few colors, and never right ones as shown in diagrams. Old cloth wires all look alike, can't tell colors on them anymore! frown
