I've spun the shaft out of the way and am atempting to remove the retaining sleeve set screw. What a B****. First off does anyone remember what size it is? It appears to be 1/2" but it fits a little loose and i don't want to round it off. I don't know if its just the downward angle that it is in or what. Can anyone give me any tips that might help me?

The lock nut should be 5/8" and the bolt 1/2".

Everything was clean as a whistle. It had oil in it and when i spun it with a screwdriver it shot right out. How often do they go bad? Low oil pressure gets blamed on oil pumps all the time but it is seldom the pump.
If the shaft is not loose in the housing and the gears are not badly scored it will go a long time.
