how do you fix a exhaust a leak on the manifold,, i just rebuilt the motor and when putting the intake and manifold togther i did a small gap i i sanded the intake a little and used 2 gaskets on the exhaust side ,, do you think onces it gets hot i could retighen the bolts would help ???

You might try and loosen the 4 bolts that hold the intake and exhaust manifold together, then try to realign the manifolds to the head and tighten them. Then tighten up the 4 bolts that hold the 2 together.

I've never heard of using 2 gaskets? If it is not sealing, something is not aligned or maybe a small crack? I agree with Don about losing up the intake/exhaust to get a good alighment. Did you check the flatness after you sanded it?

I tried tgat befor i even elongated the 4 holes and tried that, ,some people told me that they worp in time, it was fine before i removed them. I will try to realign them after i get it running better,, the intake is pulling up good, you can see it mashing in, so got me ,i will loosen them and try again

Was the manifold cold when it was removed? If not, this could be why it won't fit now. If it was cold, there must be something out of alignment.

yeah i say it cold ,, would it help if i let it get hot and try to retighten ??

No, if the manifold is not completely cold when removed it's more likely to warp. Getting it hot and then trying to tighten it probably won't help your situation. If it's not sealed when cold it won't do any better when hot.

I had the same problem with a exhaust leak at the manifold.

I believe he charged me around 60 bucks.

dads50 what did they do mill both to match ,, have to be careful about the rings in intake ?

My exhaust was leaking at the 2 inner ports

I took it to him and he put a straight edge on the manifold.

you could see where the outer edges were hitting first.
he endeded up milling it and I believe he took off less than .020 before it trued

nothing had to be taked off the intake.

If your worried about your alignment rings you can take those down with a file.

I had to call three shops before I found someone willing to mess with it.

right now my intake is hitting first ,, so it dont need to be ground ,, the intake does ,, i took a large belt sander to it and did a little , i marked the rings to see how har i could go ,, i was scared to do too much ,, i belive i could do more i could do the rings a little also if needed ,, i might get back to it after i get the motor lined out

The part that makes first contact usually is what needs to be taken down to the same plane as the others.

I got to through some of things right now i will address that later i need to get running good and and set the timming get the motor seated in first, , but i will take it off and sand a little more
