well i got the motor back and it looks great , they did the short block so i need to put things together,, can someone help with the copper head gasket , there is a small foldover on one side does that go down toward block or up ?? and i was told to use the copper spray gasket stuff too , do i just spray a couple coats on both sides and install ???

I would use permatex spray-a-gasket on it(its a purple color),spray it on both sides and thats it.You will have to make sure the gaskets goes on right by looking at all the holes.Push rod holes are going to be one one side and then line up all the water holes. I think it only goes on one way.But i am sure somebody from here will confirm.

Personally I would take the copper gasket and put it in the trash. You can buy much better than that.

I agree,Best gasket makes a fiber with steel inserts that works great.Fel Pro also makes one.

i am guessing there is some extra gaskets in the kit they gave me? i saw another set for oil pan and looks like 2 extra rope seals of some sort, and some others ,, could be for like a 230 or 250 ??
, what do i need to do on the oil pan does the groves on the rubber go up or down ?? and i guess i need to add a dab or silicone there also where it meets the cork ??

No , The 2 extra rope seals are for the rear main seal, the grooves go down, and yes a dab in the corners , I always put a small amount of silicone over the rubber too,when you tighten the pan down you will see the silicone come out and you know you have sealed it.

So what doi do with the 2extra seals, the mains are in already and done, , my engine builders did the short block,,, i even had extra oil pan gaskets too the just wont line up with holes, ,,
