Hi everyone. I'm hoping I can get some help from all those with 41-46 trucks, especially Canadian built trucks.

I ordered my side and back glass from a local Chevrolet/GM Parts supplier, and specified I needed it for the framed windows. When I picked them up today, I noticed it said 39-46 on them. Everything I've read has said that the 41-46 windows are smaller than the 39-40 windows due to having the frame around them. When I brought this up to the supplier (who I didn't talk to until later-long story), he claimed all Canadian trucks didn't have framed windows. I promptly told him that was a lie, since EVERY 41-46 truck I have seen has had frames around the side windows.

So I'm wondering if anyone with an american or canadian built 41-46 truck has windows without the frames, or if this guy is just lying to me? Judging from others experiences with him lately, I wouldn't put it past him.

Also, I'm wondering if anyone with a canadian built chev from 41-46 can give me a picture of their check stop on the driver's side? I think he's lying to me about that too...

My 41 gmc and 41 chevy, both have frames around windows in doors, rear has a bolt on frame that the 42-46 don't have. Dave

u should have just went to an auto glass shop, those are flat glass and wouldnt even been that expensive, I took my 46 1/2 ton to a local glass shop and had both front glass and both side and rear all done in tinted glass for just under 300.00, with the rubber and the little lock strip around the back window, and both my door windows have frames around them

Thanks for the advice, but it was cheaper to go this route (initially) and I'm just looking for answers to the questions at hand.

As far as I know all I have ever seen had frames.

I had a Canadian built 1946 Chev. P/U with no frame around door glass. I also currently own a US build 1939 Chev. Suburban that has no frame around door glass. When I needed new glass, I took old glass to a local glass shop and they made new ones.

Thanks for the info. Had your 46 been restored when you got it, or was it untouched? I know some guys put the glass in without a frame, but I would rather have the frames on it.

Obviously I'll be getting a glass shop to cut my windows now. I checked the costs before hand and it was much cheaper to do it this way so I did. I told the vendor I needed the glass for windows with frames and now he's changing his story. I'm just checking, as he seems to be doing some funny things.

46gmcpu, My '46 Cevy was untouched except for rust and some one with a large hammer. Fortunately the cab was in fair shape and glass did run up and down so I think they were all original.

I am working on a 45 GMC, Canadian built and it has frames around the windows. The inner door panels are off, so I can take pictures of what's inside if you want me to.

Thanks, but I'm good now. The windows I got will work within the frames, but wouldn't work with the 39-40 trucks without adding the frame. I was quite relieved that they will work. Now I can go ahead and tint them and put them in next spring!
