Hey guys, there's a really nice firetruck about 20 minutes from me for sale. Looks in really nice shape. The guy is asking $6000 for it. I drove past it a week or two back (before I saw this group). Wish I'da snapped a picture. I'll be moving soon, so if you want a picture, let me know and I'll drive back down, snap a few and get more info. I'm pretty sure it's pre-60's *I think.

Fire trucks make good restoration candidates since in most cases they spent most of their working life in a heated building and kept clean and ready at a moments notice repaired. Most were lightly used and have very low miles. My 59 was retired in 2004 from a rural Wisc fire dept. 53 years old and has around 8,500 miles on it. The price seems a bit on the high side to me. Not seeing it and know for sure what it is, is in fact impossible to really tell. I do know that there are a lot of them out there for a lot less for sale. Much better than dragging one from behind a barn where it has set out for 30 years after being dragged there by a farmer, due to a mechanical failure. Bill

I would agree with all that Bill said. Sounds a little high to me too, but, on the other hand, I wouldn't sell mine for a dollar less than $10,000, and I'd take a big loss on it then. It's been well-loved though, and I know it's worth it.

That being said, you can have the keys to it when you pry them from my cold, dead hand!!! ;-)
