secret 1939 was the first year Chevy produced COE's on there GM assembly line.
When I first read the history of Chevy COE's, I just had to have one. So I watched for a few years & finely found my Stubbed TOE. It's a 107" wheelbase Tow Truck, minus the tow boom.
I purchased it over two years ago. It was on EBay. I was surprised, but no one bid on it, so when it closed, I made a phone call & bought it sight unseen. Looking at my photos, you will see some photos of the truck in the bushes under trees, those photos are all I had to decide I had to have it. It was in Arkansas, way far from Oregon. But that didn't matter either. I just had to have it.
It is now off the original frame & I'm starting to fix a few sheet metal spots that has cancer. It is really a solid truck with very little cancer. The body is 100% complete, right down to the hood ornament & original bumper. I am looking for a 1 ton or 3/4 ton rolling chassis to put both the cab & wrecker box on. I'm expecting to air bag it & slam it on the ground. I will also make it a tilt cab. How they ever kept the motor tuned up is beyond me?
Sunvisor/spotlights/foglights & many other era correct accessories will be added to keep the oldschool look.
I sure could use some help finding a good straight grill for it.

Car chat means talks about Chevy's. All other car makers only build transportation.
I don't work on my cars, I entertain my self in my garage, so my nabor tells me.

Cool Truck ! Sounds like a great project. Finding a 1 ton chassis that will fit under her might be fun. Keep us posted on your progress.
