wreckers are most often discussed in the Big Bolts section, as they usually are over 1T's .... and you'll find a few owners of them there

Hy baldbenny, I have a couple so far, a 46 GMC EC302/Holmes 515E, and a 72 C50/Holmes 500, I'm always on the lookout for a larger Holmes for one of my tandems.

baldy, I've sold both of those COE wreckers pictured. One was a 1951 Dodge COE, Holmes model 525 Wrecker, & the other was a 1953 Chevrolet COE, with the same Holmes 525 Wrecker. I'm working on putting together at the moment, a 1952 GMC 3 1/2 ton COE with a Holmes Heavy Duty model W35 Wrecker on it.

Yeah, If you look at my webshots album titled "Dayton Wheel Adapters", you'll see a green GMC COE. That's it. It has Factory air brakes. The Holmes w35 Wrecker unit, is sitting next to it.

Don't plan to cut the chassis on this truck. I had originally planned to install it on a near identical COE I had, but sold a few years ago(it was the white 5 window cab GMC COE, in my webshots albums), so on this longer wheelbase truck it goes. I plan to fabricate a original style tool compartment in the space between the cab, & wrecker body. It will look original when complete. These W35 wrecker bodies came in two different lengths. One with a forward tool compartment, & one without. Thanks for the complement on the wheels. Those Dayton Wheel Adapters are very "Rare". It took me close to 20 years to find a set.

Ha Spanky,
Have you come across a grill for my 1939 Chevy COE Tow Truck? I have been looking & posting (WANTED 1939 Chevy COE Truck grill) for a couple years now & still have not gotten any leads on a grill. It is getting me frustrated.......

Haven't seen just a grille available. You may have to purchase a parts truck. I always try to have a parts truck, or two around.

Hi Spanky;
No parts trucks showing up around here. The only cab I have seen is the same one you see on EBay all the time. I'm sure I'm not looking in the right place? I have put WANTED adds every place I get a chance. I had a metal repair Co. look at mine to repair & that is out of the question, way way to costly for my pocket... So I just keep looking @ watching...

I have a 1956 8400 with Holmes 525 and the 828 Chariot style service body. You can see it in the gallery...click on link in my signature.

I sold a wrecker body just like the one on my '56 about 6-7 years ago and the guy that bought it hasn't done anything with it yet. I could try to contact him to see if it's for sale if that's the style body someone's looking for...he's in northern Indiana. Send me a PM...
