I think John is bring the big white two seater and the ambassador, Charlie.
Yep, not too much chatter this time around. I guess the show is sort of routine now, not that that is a bad thing. In case anyone is wondering, we usually talk about the big banquet on Friday night. I will be bringing the usual burgers and dogs to throw on the grill, feel free to bring something to go along with it if you want. How many people to plan for? Who knows. I figure, first come first serve in the ODSS. Not to worry though, no one will go hungry.
Don't forget to bring your unmbrella, boots, rain coats, slickers and anything else you might wear in the rain, this way, maybe it won't!
Oh yea, bibs and chucks for dinner on Saturday.

Billy

Mike _ I was figuring that we;d be doing the usual 0800 departure from the Leonardtown Foodlion (me, John V and Gary) and picking you all (the Mechanicsville gang) up in Chaptico, and Mike B at the Dahlgren Wawa. I'm open to ideas.

The Big Jeep isn't ready for a road trip after today's maintenance session -- when I cracked open the front axle/differential, I did not like what I saw -- so I will be taking Charlie on the trailer behind the Big GMC (same configuration as the confab trip). On the Big Jeep, the front axle issue probably isn't anything more than just draining and replacing the GO 80/90 oil, but I don't have time to do it before Thursday. I'd like to have Nelson at Sensenig's go over it before I attempt a road trip.

Dear Brothers,

All systems *GO* for the one-truck presidential convoy leaving Charlottesville @ 1000 hrs. Thursday. As in years past I really appreciate the en-route full-coverage security envelope.

Will bring two bottles of Scotch (one with a sizable dent in it), Canopy, 4 folding chairs, small table, water and go-jo for handwashing, large bag of salted and roasted peanuts to share. Friday breakfast I will make an early AM run for doughnuts/bacon/eggs whatever the group present needs.

Can anyone bring a portable fire pit and wood for two nights campfires?

just another brother,

Cosmo

Mr. President ... As always, your safety and protection are our foremost concern, and we, your security detail, take your personal safety very seriously indeed. But... Um, due to budget cuts and threat of sequestration, your "enroute full coverage security envelope" has been reduced to us crossing our fingers, providing you with a cd of Pavarotti singing "Ave Maria" and generally thinking positive thoughts about you during your journey -- just please refrain from travelling outside of normal business hours (0800-1200, 1230-1600) as we have no funding for overtime, thus no positive thoughts after 1600 or during lunch. smile

Perhaps you have a photo or a drawing of a weapon of some sort you could carry with you to show to any wouldbe attackers, kidnappers or terrorists? Perhaps, in your final moments, you could tell them that if our funding gets restored in the next fiscal year, we will come after them with a similar weapon. Oh, if our funding for overtime and travel does *not* also get funded, they will have to come to us (during normal business hours) ... No matter, that still should act as a sufficient deterrent and keep you safe!

Gentle reader: Please read this missive humming your best or favorite recollection of Ave Maria

John and presidential security detail,

Duly forewarned. I am good to go armed with Pavarotti singing "Ave Maria", my own copy. I may mount my trusty one iron golf club in the gun rack, as Lee Trevino once said--"Not even G*d can hit a 1 Iron", I take exception to this statement, although never having played golf with God my one iron has always been my 'club in the bag' and it will find value on the links or in a tight spot, whenever the need should arise.

Your concerns much appreciated.

just another brother,

Cosmo

I'll be available at a moments alarm. Should it be sounded, I and my trusty Lifeboat will be enroute with haste Sir.
I cannot believe that Brother Milliman would fail to protect his President. The Seargent at Arms will hear about this.

You can cut the defense budget, you can cut Presidential personnel expense budget, but the security detail budget. Andy has the lemonade (not the kool aid) stand up and running for fundraising purposes, as we take the presidents security as a top priority.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger here. I'm just sayin'...

"Vision without a requirement is a daydream...
Requirements without funding is hallucination..."

Bravo Zulu on the initiative, Gott Boys!!

Oh, and Mr. President, speaking as your ethics advisor, I would sincerely hope your copy of Pavarotti is a legally obtained copy free of any bootleg or copyright infringement issues .... And also speaking as your InfoSec advisor, I would hope that your electronic version has been duly scanned for Namibian scams, Craigslist Bots, Chinese security worms and other malware in accordance with ODSSINSTR 5720.44C (with Change Gamma). And lastly, speaking as your Staff Judge Advocate, be sure to check the religious and/or cultural sensitivities of your wouldbe attackers/kidnappers/terrorists to ensure no infringement of their rights to religious freedoms are constrained or otherwise trampled by the playing of overtly denominationally specific lyrics -- it would be best to get them to sign waivers before playing it.

Thanks,
J Crosby

and for Gods sake don't post it on you tube....................

On a serious note brothers, Gottboygirl (Mrs Gott) had her 30 years of gov't service last week with one of the those alphabet spook agencies and for the time in her career she had to go into work this past weekend. For the forseable future she will be working weekends as her office ramped up to 24/7. So be diligent and take care of the Prez.

Unfortunately I can not make WInchester, as my work has cancelled days off this weekend as we will be protecting the first amendment rights of the aryan nation march this Saturday

From the office of the Sargeant-At-Arms:

The presidential security detail has been arranged and will be in full force for his trip to Winchester. No budget constraint will compromise the safety of the President! Though it will appear he is traveling alone, he will be protected. Details of the arrangements are of utmost top secret thus have not been shared with no one other than myself, the President, and agents providing coverage.

WACO_UPF7, here is all the information on this weekends show: TRI-STATE

During this weekend's proceedings, as your SAA, I have several matters to discuss. In order to make sure all agenda items are covered, please bring them to my attention.

Here is my beginning of a list:

1. Brother Millimans gratitude and reward for efforts in the ODSS jacket creation.

2. Brother Hambones discipline for ignoring direct order by the SAA pertaining to his assignment of the ODSS jacket project. (requesting Brother Milliman as council and keynote advisor)

3. Mr. President's disciplinary items

Anything else???

Am I counsel for the People or for the defendant?? I would much prefer to represent the People in this case smile And I would recommend Brother Roache for Defense Counsel ...

So, assuming I am Trial Counsel, and this is the Article 32 Hearing, I put before your honor (in compliance with Article 32 regs) that the People will seek the death penalty in this case (the charge being High Treason against the ODSS) unless Defense would like to talk offline about a plea bargain. A lesser charge of Dereliction of Duty with a possible sentence of 6 months Hard Labor at the ODSS Prison Farm in Oakville, MD ...

What will it be Roache ... I don't have all day and you only have 48 hours to put together your defense. We can do this the hard way or the harder way -- your choice, Counselor.

Hold on just a second there sports fans, may I remind you of a past proceeding in which the accused was , um... er, accused? Do I have to remind you of who represented him on that spring evening in the Oakville court room with my trusty assistant by my side? How soon we forget! So, if there is any disciplinary action or sentencing to be determined, you have to go through me! I hereby offer to co-counsel with J Micheal Roache (I know, J probably isn't your initial but it sounds good, go with me)

Hah! I say. 6 months hard labor????? That's nothing....(so HB um, how long til your truck is painted and back together?)Ahh, ahem, right so, yes OUR client is innocent! and when the facts of the case are presented he will be vindicated of all charges toot sweet!

I will be in my Winchester office over the weekend if you wish to contact me. My hours are 1pm to 2pm.

As my council on this matter I believe plea bargains are off the table. Time for brother Hambone to face the music and be held accountable for his actions!!

Brother Marlow;
How could you defend the bone when you had to pick up his slack when the whole jacket ordering process started, remember when I asked you if the bone had subcontracted the job to you. However, in your defense, the Hambone's silence on this matter is so deafing, I can hear it on the Eastern Shore. In the law enforcement profession, when the accused stays silent, it usually means they are guilt, just saying.

watching from the sideline gallery.

I have some very damning evidence but becaue of client attorney confidentiality I cannot divulge said information at this time. At trial, as I said before, the truth will come out and there could very well be slander charges brought upon the accusers for their egregious acusations.
Sigining off and heading to Camp Stovebolt.

I picked up the jackets this afternoon and they look super.

Your cost is figured as follows:

Total jacket cost (plus shipping & handling): $385.17
Total Embroidery cost (and this is after a significant redo of the back embroidery charge following the "Angry Marine" routine over the initial charge that was 300 percent more than the estimate ...)
: $1,471.00

Total Jacket cost: $1,850.00
Your cost per jacket: $168.00

Thanks for the support and thanks, in advance, for your payments upon receipt of your jackets.

I will have them all at Winchester except John G and Tim's -- I will get you you guys offline about shipping.

See you tomorrow or Friday!
John

Just left camp ODSS at Winchester TriState Truck Show, got to say it was nice to meet, Andrew, Cosmo, Sweet, Mikeb and a few others were there I did'nt meet. I did'nt stay and visit long but will return to the show tomorrow after some much needed rest. I arrived in area around 3:00pm checked in to Motel and headed straight to the show with loving wife in tow. I walked around with the mrs. and checked out the flea market/swap shop area. She scored a military mess kit and is currently eyeballen a field jacket w liner for $25 . She figures if its still there in the morning its meant to be and we will be picking that up. She is also interest in some of the old trucks. I hope she does'nt apply that idea to any of the trucks or this will be an expensive trIp. There appears to be maybe 100 or so trucks today one day left i figure more may arrive tonight. I'm enjoying this trip my health has kept me home for the last 2 years. Will update tomorrow.

If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy! ~ Thanks RED GREEN

Well, all I need to say is, what a fantastic weekend! For the first time in a long time mother nature blessed us with perfect weather for the 8th annual Tri-State Truck Show. From what I understand there were 300 trucks registered and the spectator attendance broke records.
We got home around 1pm yesterday and I spent the rest of the afternoon getting stuff unloaded, parked and put away (fortunately, all that kept me from having to watch the Redskins!)
It was great to meet a hand full of new faces to the group and spend time with all the regular Bolters that made the show. And, thanks to Artie's great work at setting up Camp Stovebolt this year, I gratefully accept my demotion to Assistant Camp Commandant and look forward to learning from the master in the the future. But I would especially like to thank all that brought provisions and to camp. We enjoyed lots of great food and beverage, great laughs and fellowship, I for one can't wait until next year.
I would be remiss in not taking the time to mention jackets. John Milliman knocked it out of the park in regards to the purchase and design of the ODSS jackets. They are great and I look froward to proudly wearing mine. Thanks John. I am sure it was a lot of work and I really appreciate it.
I guess the only downside to this event is it is really the last big truck event of the year which means Homecoming will be the next time we get all together again and play with trucks. Lets hope the winter isn't too harsh and goes by quickly.
This was just another event that makes me so thankful that I bought an old Chevrolet truck and a computer back in 2000 and stumbled upon the Stovebolt Page. You can't buy the fun I have had and the friends I have made since the day I logged on the first time.
Hope to see you all soon.

I had a great time as well. Thanks to Billy for being the gracious host once again... his grilling skills are unmatched. Thanks to John for all the work that went into the jackets. It was great to see old friends and meet a few new ones as well. I don't recall meeting Duwop, but I wish I would have; hopefully we'll meet at another event. Thanks Andrew, for the trip to the off road shop. Thanks to all the others involved in bringing all the great chow.

The '66 K10 did a great job on the trip and cruised easily at 65 mph on the interstate. I haven't done a full inspection yet, but I'm pretty sure that no major body parts flew off during the trip.

Looking forward to the Junkyard tour this winter.

It was fun to see all the pictures John brought home. We'll get them uploaded as soon as we can. The sunset with Sweet's truck is totally awesome. George ... we gotta get the story on that truck.

John did come home with a few additions for the Gallery, so we'll write this one off as a "business trip" LOL!!!

Glad you had the fun you all needed. Now everyone -- back to work!

grin

I had a great time Saturday at the Winchester show meeting everyone and exchanging information about our trucks. My 1948 1/2 ton chevrolet preformed marvelously going 150 miles from my area to Winchester and back (19 mpg). I want to thank John for the excellent job he did in getting the ODSS jackets. I look forward to getting together with ODSS members real soon. Thanks. Nick Cavallaro, Bel Air, MD

What a weekend....

This past weekend to me was like no other. Every aspect of this show was near perfection. The weather, stunning. The company, awesome. The campsite, perfect.

I caught myself driving to work Monday morning with a smile. Who does that?

The first and biggest thanks goes to Brother Milliman for his work on the jackets. Everyone at home thinks its awesome.

Second goes to Brother Marlow for the food, and his usual work along with Brother Roache making camp Stovebolt what it is. Mike, thanks for the tour of the new Lifeboat!

It was great to see all the usual suspects at the show and to meet new ones. I think when we started the third row of trucks on Saturday they seemed to draw quite a crowd!

Taking George's new truck of awesomness out on the interstate for a shakedown was a blast. That thing moves! Welcome Brother Van Orden to the highspeed division of the ODSS!!

Can't for the next event!!

Working on the photos now so I can't post much other than to table thump what's already been said. It was great meeting Nick, Craig and Karen! Welcome to the nut house!

Thanks Billy once again for your hospitality!

Cosmo, Chris, George, Andrew, Jessie, Mike B ... I would say that you guys are the best friends I have, but I think you might be the *only* friends I have ....

Thanks Mike Roache and Artie for a blast of a time coming home -- what a great drive!!! By the way, my average fuel efficiency was 8.6 MPG smile waa HOO!!

Chris -- About George's truck .... you ain't got nothin... 70 MPH on the Interstate ... yawn. Try driving that truck 45 mph on the windy dirt road ... sideways ... wink Awesome truck, George!

You're welcome on the jackets! We're not a club ... we're a gang chug

John

Uh, John

George "forgot" to mention to me that the speedo is a little off so therefore 77mph was our cruising speed.......
