I was in Colorado recently and purchased a set of used 1957 front fenders and rear stepside fenders. The rear stepside fenders have tail lights in them and you can see that they have been formed when the fenders were made. The bezels say delco guide on them and I am wondering, are these rare, or has anyone have information on them? I had heard talk of these but until now have never seen any.
Any information on these?

And that wasn't an option until '65, and was standard in '66. But the rear stepside fenders were teh same from the 2nd series 55's thru the '66 model year, accept for the back up lights.

How about posting some photos of your fenders?

John

There was a backup light option in '55 (I have a set on mine that were NOS), but they were simply mounted to the fender with a rubber base that was angled to fit the contour. I have seen the fenders you describe with the mounting pad stampled into the fender. They are for a later truck, most likely the '66 the John mentions. Here's a pic of the '55-'59 style, which uses the same lens, bezel, and base as the '50-52 Chevrolet and Pontiac Passenger car backup light. The rubber mounting block is Truck specific.

TC,

Post up some photo's of your fender / lights of which you are speaking. I'd love to see if they are different or are the same thing we think they are.

I am a bit of a tail light junky.. wave I used '64 Impala tail lights installed upside down on my '65 fenders http://inlinethumb19.webshots.com/51474/2621897210103882008S600x600Q85.jpg

Thanks,

John
