My 60 C10 originaly came with a generater and was wondering if it would be better to put a alternater in it. The truck will be for the most part stock. No electrical add ons. Will mostly be driven on weekends.

There's nothing wrong with a DC generator system that's properly adjusted and maintained. They worked for a lot of years before we had alternators in general use. One advantage, if you've got a standard transmssion, is the generator can develop enough output on a push start to get you going even with a totally dead battery. The alternator system can't do that. It has to have at least a little battery voltage left to excite the field coils. Unless you're planning to support more electrical accessiries than the truck had originally, a good-working generator shouild be all you need.

Radios do not draw a lot of power, so you should be OK.

However, I don't know - you may need to upgrade if you want to install a 1,000w amp. eek

well in BC are we allowed to run straight pipes on the classics or do we have to pass air care once with a catalitic converter?? becuase if i can run straight pipes i might need the 1000 watt amp. Also have you been to the carshow in parksville around the time of the sandcaslte show? I believe it was a sunday either in late july or early august? Just wondering

Thanks

Kyle

If it's a 235 , you won't need any muffler ~ I go to the Hollywood cruise ins and etc. Beverly Hills and so on and I've never been stopped as a good running Chevy 6 banger makes a very nice mellow tone ,& won't attract cops attention unless you rev it up & float the valves .

You will need a long exhaust pipe out to the back though .

I've gone through CHP checkpoints this way too , never a problem .

It's not for noise, it's for flames. You have to have a spark arrestor somewhere in the system. A muffler serves that purpose, and so does a cat, and so does a mesh screen. You don't have to have a muffler as long as you can prove your engine isn't loud enough to need one.
