What the heck is this relayish-looking thing mounted on the firewall forward of the steering column in my 1969 C-10? The plug is hanging there beneath it. Any ideas?

Looks like a horn relay. I can't remember on 69 where they are, but I thought they were under the hood. Maybe not.

If it is above the steering column and slightly toward the outboard side, it may well be part of an abortive attempt at early pollution control. I had one on my '71 C10 that has a 350 and I've seen them on several other C-10s as well. As I understand it they helped hold a "decel" solenoid in the extended position until the brake light switch cut it out.

best wishes,

Les
