I disconnected the fuel pipe from the carb & attached a clear tube to it. I then sucked thru fuel until it was visible in the tube.
When I stopped suction on the tube the gas ran back down the hose
Is the suposed to be a non return system in the pump?

If the "recon" fuel pump has had the valves put in incorrectly , it should be easy to just check them and ensure a proper installation is done.
