on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 36 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 36 | I noticed when starting to remove my 51's rear axles, to change the seals, that there was quite a bit of lateral travel in the left axle. What should I look at to see where the excess travel comes from and how do I remedy it? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I think he is talking about end play in the axle shafts them self's. That end play is adjusted by the center block/spacer that fits in between the ends of both axles. It is of little concern though. Group 5.422 in this link

Wouldn't a larger block make the right side overly tight in order to close up the left gap? | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | They make shims for the spider gear that is on the axle. That will push it closer to the block.
