I am starting the priming/painting process on the hood of my '37 1/2 ton. This will not be a "show" car, so I am not taking the four sections of the hood apart but want to spray it as a unit. Does anyone have experience with doing this? Any advice? How to I make sure the hinge area gets covered, yet moves? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
CAB

Christopher, I recently did my '38. I separated into 2 halves, then hung them from the ceiling.

hood

I hung them high enough so I could get under to cover the hinge area. I still had a small touch-up afterwards.
Good Luck smile

I took my 37 hood completely apart, separating all 4 pieces. I will be hanging mine to paint them too as Wayne67vert did.

Hi Chris,....taking the hood apart is actually pretty easy. The center section hinge just unbolts. The two side panels have a thin rod threaded thru the hinge. Soak it with rust buster for a while and it should slide out with a few whacks. I replaced mine with a piece of stainless steel rod that only cost a few bucks.
I think you would get a much better job that way.
