I just re-wired the entire truck with a Ez-wiring kit. Relays and all. I had the truck running Sunday and went to town with no problem. Today I started it and Every time I would turn the steering wheel I could here the horn relay making noise. The reason I re-wired the tuck was that the old turn signal flasher got so hot they melted. I must have a short in the steering colum. I shut the truck off and now everything is dead. The battery shows
12 volts but I have no power any where else. I have a fuseble link running to the Alternator and it looks okay but not for sure when they do blow what they look like then. There is a 30 amp large silver fuse on the fuse pannel. Is that the main fuse and if so how do you tell if it's blown.

How are you checking the 12-volts at the battery? I like to use a test light for troubleshooting this kind of problem.

Test between a ground and each side of that big fuse. If you have power on one side, and not the other the fuse is blown. If the fuse is gone you need to determine why, and correct the problem. Otherwise things will get worse not better.

Found the problem, Bad ground on battery. I had no power at my remote selonoid and I took the ground cabe off and ground down the suface where it's attached. bolted it back on and it works. By the way the silver fuse that I was talking about is a circut braker. Now my question is that It was the horn relay that was making the cracking noise when I turned the steering wheel and the horn is not even hooked up on the steering column. Could the bad ground cause the relay to crackel because now when I start the truck I can move the steering wheel all I want and there is no noise
