Hi all, after i rebuilt my 235 engine 3100 miles ago i noticed it had a wobbly distributer. (1962 235) I took it out and clamped the shaft in a lathe to check the starightness and sure enough it was a little bit bent.(not majorly bent just very slightly) I strightened it out with my adjusting tool "hammer" so it was perfectly straight. If i recall correctly it was good for about 1 minute then it got the same wobble back in it when it runs. Is this a common for 235's? is there a way to fix it? I noticed the shafts on these are not ver big diameter. I've been running it like that for 3100 miles and it is ok so far. Is it something i should lose sleep over? And no i do not want to but something newer in, thanks.

PJ alot of the venders out there offer Distributors for sale. You should be able to find one for around $100.00 us.

Check out your local NAPA on that part. If your NAPA guy cant find the correct part # I can.

Last time I price a rebuild from my local parts store it was $35. Course, things are a lot cheaper here "south of the border".

I would be careful and not drive it at high speeds until it's fixed. I was running a 478 GMC v6 with a worn out distributor. new one on order, so drive it the boss said. That afternoon at 65 mph with the governer engaged at 3250 rpm she misfired and I picked up a piece of the block about the size of my hand.
