Does anyone know who might be selling a throwout bearing that is made in the USA? My truck is a 56 half-ton. Both Classic Chevy Parts and Obsolete Parts sell bearings made in China.

I think they're all Asian now, probably even from GM, but NAPA saves on the freight and they have good replacement policies if needed .... I've only had one that was defective out of half a dozen I've used - that one was part of a clutch kit pack and got noisy after 11 months - they replaced the whole kit

Thanks. My NAPA sells only the entire clutch kit and I already have a new disc and pressure plate. I guess I'll have to take my chances.
And yes, I realize I should have posted this in the Driveline forum.

National brand BCA 614037 for diaphragm style pressure plate; BCA 614018 for 3 lever style plate. Some are still from USA.

I have run across some differences in throwout bearings as regards the front of the bearing design, some with a ridge around the portion that pushes against the pressure plate fingers and some with a flat surface around the portion that pushes against the pressure plate fingers. The ridge causes the plate fingers to make a popping noise and the pedal to jump when the fingers come off the ridge when the pedal is released. I have to buy a couple of throwout bearings to find the correct one because no one at any parts store could tell me the difference or find any reference in any of the parts books as to what the difference is between the two styles of throw out bearings. Anyone else have that problem or know the difference?.

An option I have done for many years is to repack the throwout bearing.
If the bearing is smooth turning with slight pressure, especially if it is a New Departure I repack it.

Sixcylinder - The flat TO bearing is for the three finger pressure plate and the riged one is for the diaphragm pressure plate.

Wow, T-Ruck! That is very good information, but that seems to be backwards from what I have found. At any rate, it is good to have that information because I didn't even realize there two different kinds. Now if I could get the Part Number for one that is still being manufactured, I would be in good shape.

Can anybody give me a good part number for the throw out bearing with the flat surface where the fingers push on the throw out bearing - NOT the rounded surface, but the flat surface? Maybe a NAPA, BCA or National number.
