How does the rubber gasket go on the back edge of the fender on the Task Force truck fenders. Anybody have any pics of where they go and how they mount. I'm working on a 58 GMC. Thanks Larry
I don't know if it's the correct way but I glued mine to the cowl at the back edge of the fender just ahead of the door. It could also be glued to the fender. I used 3m weatherstrip adhesive. Sorry don't have a pic. Darren
There is a metal reinforcement running from the top to the bottom at the rear of the front fender. I glued the rubber to this on my 56 - it meets up to the cowl as Darren mentions and seals that gap. im sure it doesn't matter which edge you glue it to as long as it is sandwiched in between those two edges.
Thanks guys, I wasn't sure were it went but that makes sense. I was thinking it went on that thick spot, reinforcement down the back edge, but then it would be forcing the fender out past the door. So that makes better sense. Larry
one more tip about this: the rubber i bought came rolled up and stuffed in a bag. When i took it out, it wanted to hold this shape and wouldn't stay straight on the fender edge.. tough to glue that way. i suggest you take it out of the bag awhile before you go to use it and press it flat under a heavy book or something and let it sit for a while so it better approximates the position/shape it will have on the fender (or cowl).
