My fuel guage is stuck on 3/4, even with new sending unit installed. What else can be checked?

Ground the wire going to the sending unit.
Turn on key & the gauge should read empty.
Remove the wire from the sender & it should
read full. If it doesn,t check for power at
the gauge. Than try the same test on the terminal
that goes to the sender. If you have current to
the gauge & it still doesn,t move you need a new
gauge. smile

There are some excellent trouble shooting tips available on some sites, specifically for gas guage problems. They work!

Sorry it took so long to update. Went to the Rod Run in Daytona and bought a new gauge. Installed it and it went to full even though I only have about 1/2 a tank and then it just kept goin! I mean the needle disappeared behind the bezel. What's up with that?

When the gas gauge goes way over beyond full it
indicates an open circuit to the sender or defective sender. Ground the wire at the sending
unit & the gauge should go to empty. If it does
the sender is defective or not grounded. smile

I have the opposite problem. No matter how full the tank, the guage always goes rapidly to the full setting when I turn on the ingnition. I just ignore it and calculate how far I've gone and figure out when to fill-up based on my MPG (which is about 15) How can I correct?
