A good example why some folks now choose to apply epoxy primer befor fillers.

| | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 45 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2004 Posts: 45 | Maybe a little bondo there but that is not what I would worry about. Check that rust to see if you have solid metal underneath. A test with a sharp pick is in order to see if you have any rust through.

Don't be afraid to sand because you'll need to remove all of the failed filler and rust before you can proceed anyway.

Might not have been rusty when the filler was applied but the filler cracked and let moisture in- and there you see the result...better to find it now and address it then to just have primed and painted ofer the work and see it ruined a little bit down the road. | | |
