that lever you pushed up to turn it on, pull it back down when you are done making the turn.....

the cancel cam arm broke, you'll need to replace that part of the switch, or the whole switch. must remove steering wheel to get it out.

because something is broke .... you need to bite the bullet and take the assembly apart and see what's what, if the cancel assembly doesn't have a broken pin then maybe the switch is buggered - nobody here can see it

Sometimes the corner of the cancelling cam, attached to the back of the steering wheel, will break off and the signal switch, inside the primary bonnet will not return to the resting position, which is the open position for the left & right signal light circuit. Check this, in addition to the suggestions stated above.

Mine just needed a small adjustment. Follow the cable to the little "box" towards the end of the column. Move the lever up & down and you will see how it works Its been a while but I remember moving the wire and the box in combination to get it right.

i'm not sure i understand. you said the right hand turn sig stays on, later you said it returns to normal position. if it stays green and doesn't blink i would check the hood connection. if it stays on and blinks one way but won't return to off, i would check the canceling cam as everyone has said. only one ear could be broken off of it. good luck!
