Hi guys,

Quick question, we installed a new headlamp switch in our 1950 Chevy 3600 today. The new switch works well, the dash lights dim nicely now, and the new headlights no longer smoke.
We had to get a new knob with shaft because the knob on the original shaft was free spinning.
The new knob/shaft sticks out about 1/4" from the dash. The original pushed tight against the dash when in the off position.
I noticed the new shaft is also about 1/4" longer than the original. I guess this is a universal type thing.
We got the better of the two switches from Classic Parts.
Has anyone had this issue before? Is there a way to remove the knob, cut the shaft, and replace the knob securely?

Thanks in advance.

I noticed that with my repop switch. I ended up fixing my original switch but before I did while I was still using the repop I added some washers between the switch front and the back side of the dash.
