I'm about to haul the short block of my old 1945 splash oiler off to the scrapper but I got looking at the oil pan on it that is in really good shape, better than the one on my 58 261 and wondered if it would fit.

What years will that 235 pan fit? Also is the front motor mount worth saving? I'd hate to throw this out if it is a hard to find item that could help out a fellow member of this site.

As far as bolt pattern 1940-54/55 first on truck.
A 1945 pan will have dipper troughs in it and would need to be cut out to be used on a full pressure engine.

I am sure someone here will want the mount.

I am interested in this topic. Will the sumps be in the same place? Also, when I buy a pan gasket set, there are always three long cork side pieces. One has a little bump out in it and that is the one that I don't use on my 51.

I removed some sipper troughs from an older pan for Cosmo to use on one of his full pressure engines, not sure the years involved. Perhaps he'll chime in.

1955 pass & 55 second series truck started the passenger side of the pan bulge out, before that they are straight down both sides.

You can use a 216/splash 235 pan on a full pressure 53,54 & 55 first series truck if you cut out the troughs.

Looks like I'm out'a luck on putting it on my 58. Oh well!

Thanks all for the info!
