The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline rearend conversion

Hello friends, I finally got the rearend in my 49' truck. I've got to get the driveshaft made and do a test drive on it to see how the 3.90's work. I'm still going to try and find some 3.55's, or something in that range. Be glad when this is over and I can drive. On the year model of the rear end I'm still looking, it was out of a coil spring truck. That's all I know now. Take care everyone. Just wanted to give everyone an update. Pictures are on the way as soon as I get to town.

Probably a '60-'62 if it's a 3.90 ratio and out of a coil spring truck. I assume you're talking about a 1/2 ton.

Yes it is a 1/2 ton. The ratio is 3.90. I think it is going to work out ok. If not, all I have to do now is locate a better ratio and since the change is already done it will be pretty easy just to change out the third member. Steven
