I know this sounds like a really dumb question but,could somebody please tell me where the horn is supposed to be mounted on a 48 pickup.All my shop and assembly manuals say the radiator support,but I can't find any mounting holes anywhere on it. No,I didn't take it off and forget where it went either ! I bought the truck partially restored.

What year shop and assembly manuals do you have?.

The reprinted Factory Assembly Manual is, for the most part, a depiction of the 1954 models.

Your question was posed several months ago. The '54 horns (and maybe '53, too) are mounted on the radiator support. And, there are single and dual-horn mounting holes found on the '54 radiator support (and maybe '53, too). On earlier years, the single horn mounted on the intake manifold - your question seems to be "where do dual horns mount on pre-'54 (pre-'53 ?) trucks?".

I cannot recall what the earlier dual-horns looked like and where they mounted. Someone posted pictures and very clear information. Maybe they will respond again.

Do you have pictures of the horns that you could post? It might be helpful to know the style of the horns (and the type of mounting brackets).

The dual matched horns were an option on the '47-55 1st trucks { GM part # 986099 group # 2.810 }. These "sea shell" style horns were mounted on the passenger side of the firewall & were used in conjunction with the horn mounted on the intake manifold.

I was not sure of the style of the earlier dual horns. The single and dual horns on the '54/'55-1st are mounted on the radiator support.

Thanks, everybody! The horns that I have are the seashell type. It looks like at least one was mounted on the firewall,but on the driver's side.
M T, were two horns like those used in conjunction with the big one on the intake,or just one ? If anybody has a pic of that,it would be greatly appreciated !

Here's a possibly dumb question : my truck was built with a 216 ('49) and should have the intake manifold mounted horn but now sports a roaring 235
with no mount on the manifold ~ I hid the horn on the lower radiator baffle as I was concerned the firewall location would make much underhood noise but not much out in front ~ where is the best location once I scrounge up another stock horn ?.
