For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 | I'm trying to get my 235 running and I just turned the slot where the distributor goes into the engine and there was no oil going to the rockers. I took off the hose on the drivers side and turned the slot with a cordless drill and its pumping oil which tells me there is something plugged up. Is there an easy way where I can de-plug the oil and have it pump oil to the rockers? any help would be appreciated. Sometimes the oil flow is low enough that just turning the pump shaft with a drill motor won't flow enough volume. I'd suggest getting it running, and if there still isn't enough flow, an external bypass line can be installed. There's also a couple of sneaky tricks to unclog the internal passages, but the engine needs to be up to normal running temperature before they work well. Jerry

The truck has been sitting for who knows how many years and when I drained the oil there was hardly any that came out. The pistons are free but I don't get any oil to the rockers. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 59 | Do I just take a hose or pipe and run it from the discharge port on the drivers side and tap it into the valve cover bypassing everything?

I like to use a piece of 3/16" steel brake line if copper tubing that size is hard to find. This bypasses the internal passageways and supplies oil to the rockers. Some people put a flow control needle valve into the line to regulate the oil flow to the head. Jerry
