Hello, I was just given this 1962 K10. Its one of those "it was running when parked trucks." Originally, I only wanted the engine, (which i believe is a 235 the #3836850 is embossed on the head), to install in my 41 1.5 ton. Now, I think i will attempt to restore this one once my 41 is on the road. The hood is in pretty bad shape, and the drivers door was creased by something heavy and moving at a high rate of speed, but the rest of the truck is all there and fairly sound. I put a couple of pics on photobucket. Will post a couple more when I get it cleaned up a bit. ~f

Nice! Those original four wheel drive trucks are very rare, around here anyway. Glad to see it didn't go to the scrapper! The NAPCO's are really neat trucks.

Congratulations. As mentioned, the factory 4x4 trucks, due to the relatively low production numbers, are rather rare and getting a bit more challenging to find.

'60 and up are not Napco's unless they are the unusual 1 tons and bigger. But that Corporate 4x4 is awesome. I think you may have a 261 there. the 850 head number and the extra full flow oil hoses may be the indication. Look for the "captain's bars" above the starter. The swb 4x4's are even more rare. If that were my truck, I'd be tempted to put a rebuilt engine and trans in there (just to be up and running quickly) and clean up the interior and run that SOB just like it is. Great patina and look to that truck. More pix please.

hey, thanx for all the comments! well, now i can quit digging around for any kind of napco identification. and shark, interesting that you said it might be a 261. that is also a highly sought after engine, correct? anyway, gonna use that engine in the 41, then later put a crate 350/350 in the 62. unless, it starts and runs like a top with 140psi on all 6. then, i should probably leave it alone, huh? shows 61,000 on the odometer. last regestered in 1979.

hey curt, bitchen restoration! i'm gonna go with some factory steel wheels like you did. very clean look. oem and ralley sport wheels only. everytime i see a classic with 22 inch wheels on it, i wanna puke. ~f

That truck has potential. If it is the original motor I would leave it and put the crate 350 is the 41. Good luck with your projects.
