I have a 54 3100 with a 235. The truck sat for 15 years and I am bringing it back to life. I notice a faint exhaust odor almost like an electrical smell (ie melting wires) when engine is running. Has anyone noticed this or know what it is? I have rebuilt the carb, cleaned and coated the gas tank. The fuel lines and pump are clean. Any thoughts are welcome.

Corn is a favorite, smells like popcorn burning. If all wires look ok, and no excess current draw, then it has to be exhaust and muffler related. Have you put some miles on it yet? Have you let everything run for a while? Will it burn off or out?
Just some ideas.

Mine still smells like new paint roasting and a whole host of other non-new car smells....like mouse pee to name my favorite.....And I'm not even started on making it all new yet... | | |
