Just bought my son a 1983 GMC S15 with a 2.8L six and am having some electrical problems. The dash lights are quite dim and when you turn the light switch to brighten them they never get very bright. In fact when you turn the light switch very far all the electircal guages quit working! I did not think that the light switch is supposed to affect the power or working of the guages is it? Is the light switch faulty? Any help would be appreciated.

#86760 07/11/2003 9:49 PM | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 268 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 268 | I'm going to GUESS you have a bad ground to the dash panel. when you have a low voltage to the lights, your still have a potential difference in voltage so the gauges work, when you bright them up, the voltage goes up but the potential difference drops to zero and they will quit. | | |
