I hear a click when the horn button is pressed, but nothing else. I don't see it anywhere under the hood. There is one on ebay for a '54 chevy, would this be the same as on a '54 GMC and where were they attached? | | |

The ear sticking up on the manifold between the carb and the fan with the two holes in it is the "perch" for the original horn. Now to figure out why it isn't working. It sounds like the horn relay is clicking when I hit the horn button. What is this relay supposed to do? | | |
#86736 09/16/2003 6:24 PM | Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 264 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 264 | The horn relay is intended to handle the heavier current required by the horn(s), rather than routing this current through the horn switch/contact at the end of the steering column. Your problem could still be the relay. Put a test light on the terminal that goes to the horn and press the horn button. If the test light lights, the relay is OK. Then you have a problem between the relay and the horn...bad connections, open wire, faulty horn, no horn ground. | | |
