Head had been rebulit and was worn out so I did not want to go off of old parts. I have bigger intake valves and installed ex seats and new valves. I can grind seats to propper height. You can measure the distance on a new valve with the spring retainer and keepers installed from the underside of the retainer to the top of the stem, and add that to the spring height specification to get a target dimension to work with. Hydraulic lifter engines use a 1.84" spring height dimension.
