I have a 1953 Chevy 6400. It has a seafoam green 235. I think the engine might be from 1962. Engine

Does anyone have an engine in this color (and is willing to post pics)? And does anyone know of a good color match?

Thanks in advance

dw_moto,

The engine would be green (Alpine Green), if it is a 261. What is the block casting code?

I finally found the casting code. It wasn't where I expected it to be (it was in front and below the fuel pump). The casting code says it's a 261 from 54-55. Oddly enough seems to be missing the captain's bars near the starter and the code near the starter says it is from July 14, 1953.

Thanks to all of you for the engine color.

What is the code pressed into the block, just to the rear of where the distributor enters the block?

Also, what are the head and block date casting codes (maybe you gave them in another post)?

The number stamped behind the distributer is S0708.

I haven't been able to open the links you gave for most of the day so I took pictures of most of the numbers (except the block casting number) and put them in my Photo Bucket

I believe this one reads kinda like this

S=1960

0
)= July
7

0
)= Eigth day of
8

There is one more number in front of the dizzy on the block that will be something like 3769716 I think... at least thats my guess.

de_moto,

Sorry about problems getting to my website. You might be able to get there after clearing your browser's cache and deleting your browsers "history".

If that does not work, the solution is more complicated. If you are interested, and you know how to change the domain name servers on your PC, send me a Private Message.
