I couldn't get any work done on my 41 big bolt while it was out in the weather. So, I had a shop installed on my side yard. It's just about outfitted now. Also, a guy gave me a 1963 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside. I'm gonna take the 235 out of it and put it in my 41. It is my understanding that they utilize the same motor mounts. just a slight difference in the fan belt pulley length, right? I posted a picture of my shop, and the new engine. Comments are welcome.

Nice shop!

It looks well organized... hopefully it will stay that way.

I also like the desk/workbench in the back. It would be nice for finer work and maybe an internet connection for a laptop.

Hey Moto, thanx for the comment on my new shop. I now have a 1962 Chevy K10 in it. The rear corner that you commented on is my wife's air brushing booth. She is gonna do some work on both my trucks when she gets up to speed. ~fletch

Being able to work indoors does make ithings easier. The later 235 blocks used side engine mounts where earlier versions used front engine mounts. For a time blocks were cast so you could use them either way. Just one thing to check. Another thing I found was the pin the accelerator linkage mounted to had 2different spots it could be threaded into the block. On my 48 someone butchered the linkage after an engine change when it would have been easier to just move the pin if they had realized the block made allowances.

hey shop shark, thanx for the information. a little further digging revealed that side mounts were used only until 1963. a piece of luck for me, because this engine is going into my 41 1.5 ton. and, thanx for the info on the accelerator linkage. i woulda started cutting and welding. good thinking on gm's part.

If you have the pan and timing chain covers off, drill and tap the bottom holes so you can remove them separately.
