I recently got the idea in my head a sharp classic truck would be a great eye catcher for my new retail computer business.
After searching craigslist for a few weeks I discovered that i'm in love with classic trucks. The bodies on these old beasts just talk to my heart.
On top of all this grandpa turned 80 this year. As i started looking into what i'll have to learn to do the restoration I remembered grandpa worked on trucks for 20+ years. Add his farm and trailer experience and I realized i'm sitting on a gold mine of experience and expertiese.
Above everything else i'm looking forward to spending time with grandpa. He's in great health for his age, but at his age things could change in a hurry.
Well i guess that sums up my intro. I'm sure i'll have lots of pictures of what turning wrenches does to soft 'geek hands'. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Welcome Chuck, our motto here is "knowledge is the best resource". If your grandpa worked on these trucks all these years, be sure to learn from him. I also use my old truck in my business and it sure does draw attention. The added bonus is spending time with your grandpa, something that not everyone has or has had a chance to do. Good luck with it.

Tonight i replaced the plugs. As i placed the first plug back into the block I remembered you've gotta gap them. I asked grandpa where his gap tool was. Not only did he know where to find a tool he hasn't used in 15 years but he some how remembered the gap and was off .01 deg on the point. It's important we don't lose the skills and knowledge of people like him.
