use neverseize when you put them together. I don't understand what is such a big deal about square head? They make 8 point sockets to fit square things, although I have never seen 8 point box end wrenches, doesn't mean they don't make them. It seems the clutch head would be the problem more than the square nut. It would all depend on who you talk to as to whether or not to replace them with something else, some are sticklers for originality, some not so much. I like to replace stuff under neath with stainless unless there is a need for substantial tensile strength, such as frame/suspension components. (stainless isn't all that strong) But with stainless you really need to use neverseize, or you stand a good chance of galling the fastener and never getting it off. Even a torch doesn't work well on stainless. But in 35 years, I have only had 3 stainless bolts gall up, none of which I put together, and none of which had any neverseize on them. While on the other hand, I have spent days grinding, cutting with a torch, hacksaw whatever trying to get carbon steel bolts out of things. That being said if stainless fasteners show any signs of damage, replace them, or you stand the chance of galling as mentioned earlier. It seems I am the only one who uses neverseize, but I use it on nearly everything, after 30 years in the merchant marines, I am completely sold on it
