Tonight I decided to started cleaning up the 4 speed, and dissect the leaking Muncie P2HX PTO.

I've read seal replacement is fairly easy on these units, but I'm looking for the pointer in the right direction!

I have it to this point...

Need I remove the shafts to pull the seals? And if so, how??

As far as I know the seals are
- Timken 480821 or Chicago Rawhide 7474
- Timken 480889

but I can see a national number one, 50800.

Thanks
Mark

I always did take them completely apart so I could thoroughly inspect all the parts and replace the freeze plugs at the same time. It is a Muncie manufactured by Chelsea. Muncie didn't begin to manufacture PTO's until approx. 15-18 years ago.
The advantage to this for you is it makes getting the parts that much easier.

Dave,

I'm all about taking it apart - but not sure where to begin!

Ok, I have both plugs out - do I press the shafts out from the plug end?

Mark

Well I got impatient and thought I would give it a try... I used a punch and first knocked the drive line out - removing the seal while doing so.

But the engagement pin drove out the opposite way! After which I removed that seal.

I can also make out the seal #'s so I think I'm good to go, although I've never heard of a "Victor" seal, hopefully my local guy can cross reference.
