Block # 3837004 ... 1956 ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER List as, Z 15-21-2400 Regular "235" Engine - 6 Cylinder... Will this engine accept my 1954 Hydra-Matic Transmission ? Or would the ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER have to end in " 56XG " for it to work ? Thanks...

The serial numbers won't match, but the performance shouldn't change at all. If you've got a numbers-correct block it might be worthwhile to save it and have it rebuilt for future use. Jerry

Unfortunately my truck does not have the original engine... The one that my father thought was turned out to be a replacement engine, blank engine # on the pad... So counting the engine that is in it now ( 1960 235 ) that makes it the third one...
