The truck I am going to pick up is shy one wheel . Makes it hard to drag up on trailer . Can you help me out with rim size and bolt pattern for a 1946 gmc 1/2 ton . Probably Canadian made if that matters .
Thanks wave

If an old Chevy wheel is not available, virtually all Japanese pickups had the same lug pattern as the old Chevy trucks. Nissan, Toyota, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Land Cruiser, etc. and all their American-badged clones like Dodge Ram 50, Ford Courier, Chevy LUV, etc. have the 6-lug wheels. Most of them are 15", but just to roll it up on a trailer you don't need an exact match.

Late 1940's/early 1950's Chevrolet car rims/tires (15") are pretty easy to find locally. You're looking for 6 holes on a 5 1/2" bolt circle. I recently removed the tires from my stock rims for sandblasting otherwise I could have loaned you one.

I am now using old Japanese vehicle wheels described by Jerry. They work fine on the rear but provide limited steering-movement on the front (offset problems). As Jerry posted, they work fine for straight forward/backward rolling (and, wide turning).

Any wheel from a 6 bolt chevy half ton is the right pattern. You could even put a modern wheel on, since you're just putting it on to roll around.

I would also love to see some pictures one you get it home. I'm building a Canadian built 46 GMC 3/4 ton currently.

Maybe earlier trucks have more room but when I tried to mount Avalanche wheels/tires on my 52 they hit the boxside on the rear and the tie rod on the front. If you put some washers over the studs and found some extended lug nuts you might get a modern wheel to snug up enough for rolling it around.

Thanks for the info . One more rim related question . Are the stock rims hub centric or lug centric and what size centre hole and lug holes are required .
