Chevys of the 40s has 6v halogen bulbs with dual filament for tail and brake light. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they noticably brighter? Worth the extra $? Thanks

This sounded pretty interesting to me so I went sniffing and found a variety of sources for 6V halogen bulbs out there! Wow. Who knew?

The one thing that TOTALLY surprised me was Yesteryear's Six Volt Positive Ground One Wire Alternators.

Now that is something worth crowing about.

Wow, somebody developed a six-volt, positive-ground, one-wire alternator just for us MoPar guys!

Frank, you better go easy on that Mopar stuff. That's twice in 24 hours. If word gets out you're actually a Chrysler product in Chevy clothing there's no telling what these people will do to ya!

But back to the main subject, us GMC guys now have an alternator option and that is indeed very very cool.

Brighter Headlights

They say halogens won't do as much as making sure you're getting full voltage to your lights ... I haven't tried it yet - you need to take a voltage reading at each light itself - but it sounds practical enough.

I put aluminum foil on the inside of my tail light housings and they sure are bright enough ... in fact, I added halogen Bed Roll Lights to my truck, and they don't look any brighter than my tail lights since I added the aluminum foil.
