Howdy, folks. Been a while since I visited the site. Finally in a position to resume restoring my 68 C-20. Want to find just plain steel wheels to replace the pimped up wheels the truck came with. Any suggestions on where to hunt -- preferably for new reproductions.

I have a set of 16s from a 92 2500 on my 68 C20. Been on there for at least 10 years. I've run up to a 265/75 no problems.

I put BFGoodrich 255/85R16
Load Range E (3415lb) 33.3 inch Diameter tires on my 64 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 as they were as close as I could get to the 7.50x17 tires that came on the truck.

With my 4.55 rear, I did not want smaller tires.

We had a 1967 one-ton at the auto parts where I worked. It has 8.00x19.5 tubless tires on it. Looked neat. They had enough clearance under the wheel wells.

I like the looks of the 19.5 tire too. I have 19.5 on my motorhome, and they get expensive to replace. You can buy 2-3 16 tires for a 19.5 would cost.

Stockton Wheel in CA carries a lot of wheels, and they can make about anything. I've not used them personally, but have heard several positive referrals.

Also, Midwest Wheel Cover in MN carries a lot of wheels. Most are custom, but I was able to locate some used plain steel wheels for my truck there.

Good luck. Those stock steel Wheels seem to disappear.

Best check on recent feed back for Stockton wheel. They had some problems early last year. The owner passed away by his own hand.

If you want an OEM wheel alloy or steel (which is what I have)contact Acker Wheel in San Jose, CA;

Check out www.dexstarwheel.com or www.accuridewheels.com . They still make oem style steel 8 lug wheels.

Stockton Wheel is under new management since early last year. I haven't any reports of the new management. It took me better than 4 months to get a pair of custom wheels for my motorhome. Do a search on HAMB for more information.

Hey Cletis, If you talk to Harley at wonderful Stockton Wheel tell him to send me back the wheel I sent cross country.Then when he wouldn,t return my calls I tried for two months to get them to send it back on my dime.I,m still waiting a year later!
