Hi Guys,

I finally lowered by rebuilt 235 into my 1959 truck. Word to the wise, you CANNOT install the motor and transmission into the truck at the same time, the tans is too tall to fit between the crossmember and body.

This brings me to my question, can I start/run/cam break-in the 235 with the clutch and pressure plate installed without a transmission? I would like to break-in the motor with one less thing to worry about, and starting without the transmission would isolate any clutch issues from the initial 20 minute run.

Thanks, Vince

I just got done doing mine, all it has on it is the bellhousing and the flywheel, I don't see how adding the clutch and pressure plate would make any difference. Dave

Just make sure the throwout bearing is removed or it could get bound up in there.
