I replaced a non-working gas gauge and it now reads.Thats good except it should read in the 11 to 2 o'clock position to match the gas gauge full to empty marks. Instead, it seems to want to work from the 7 to 11 o'clock position. Do I have to remove the gas gauge needle and adjust it to suit the range of motion? | | |

I bought the gauge from Chevy Duty and ordered it for the 72. It only has one wire going to it and I assume it goes to ground through the mounts on the tank. | | |

I would pull it out again and have a look. On the older gauges (like in my 54) there is a triangular piece at the base of the needle - this can be adjusted relative to the needle to get the guage reading correctly if your needle isn't bent.
